TOP stands for Temple of Praise Ministries (TOP Church). It exists as a religious, non-profit organisation; and its financial returns are used for religious, charitable and educational purposes. It is a church based on the Charismatic inclination.
The idea to form Temple of Praise Ministries (TOP Church) was unilaterally taken on 23rd January 1988 under the Leadership of Rev. Osei Owusu Cobbina in the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana. Five energetic men of zeal for the Lord founded the church as representatives of Christ. These men are: Rev. Osei Owusu Cobbina, Rev. Adu-Kyeremeh, Rev. Peter Yaw Asamoah, Rev. Cosmos A. Tabiri and Rev. Alex Owusu Amankwah.
Their exuberance was a great advantage for evangelism so much so that within some few years they had established branches in most of the districts in the
region. Currently, Temple of Praise Ministries has 46 branches nationwide with 4 other branches outside Ghana. These are: Pordenone, in Italy, New Jersey, in U.S.A and Three in UK.
Missions are the heartbeat of the church. This has culminated in the number of branches established by the church so far. There are 8 outreaches that have been established by the church. This will soon be transformed into branches.
Out of the 46 branches nationwide, we have 8 administrative districts of the church. These are: Sunyani, Berekum, Wamfie, Dormaa, Accra,
Kumasi, Wenchi and Bechem.
The Hierarchical Structure
We believe that any organisation or institution without solid structures turns to crumble when there is growth. To forestall this, Temple of Praise Ministries operates under the following structures.
The Apostolic council which is the highest governing council of the church, comprises five members. These are: General Overseer, General Secretary, Treasurer and Two Senior Pastors.
The National Council of Elders follows this in hierarchy. It consists of Local council of Elders from the various local branches.
Below this, we have the local church structure headed by the Presiding Pastor, followed by the Associate Pastor(s), Presiding Elder, local council of Elders, Deacons and Deaconess, leaders and the congregation.
Temple Of Praise Ministries has 25 Office Staff nationwide. These are the men and women who had held the church on the ground over the years. Their tireless efforts has translated into this great church that keeps growing spiritually and numerically each year.
Currently, TOP has 36 Pastors in Ghana and 3 Pastors abroad, overseeing the activities of all the branches.
